Acupressure and Meridian Massage Techniques for Health Professionals (video lecture)
Course Description:
This course was originally an in-person workshop but has been converted to a series of online video lectures to provide greater accessibility.
It is designed to provide Massage Therapists, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and other health professionals with pressure techniques that can be applied to points and along TCM meridians to enhance treatment. Participants will learn useful acupressure points and meridians to reduce pain, manage stress and promote muscle relaxation.
The course will provide you with an understanding of how some of the pressure points, concepts, and methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine can be applied to your treatments.
You will learn new skills to treat your most challenging cases. The course is structured as a series of short video lectures. The entire course takes about three hours to complete and can be done all at once or over several days.
Learning Outcomes:
- Acupressure points to relieve muscle tension, acute pain and stress
- Location of acupressure points
- Relevant meridians to relieve musculo-skeletal tension/pain
- Location of meridians
- Moving pressure techniques (massage along meridian)
- Static pressure techniques (acupressure)
Course Format:
Video lecture (theoretical with some practical applications/demonstrations)
Course Instructors:
Jeffrey Chand RAc., (Dipl. TCM) graduated from the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has been in practice as a Registered Acupuncturist for thirteen years. Post graduation, he furthered his education and training through practical experience at a hospital in Taipei, Taiwan. He is founding director of Coastal Integrated Medicine, a wellness clinic in Victoria BC, and is a licensed member in good standing of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of BC (CTCMA).
Kristina Hanson BHSc, RAc., (Dipl. TCM) has been practicing Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 10 years. She has an interest in the integration of Eastern and Western medicine, evidence-based research and the future of health care systems around the world. She is a licensed member in good standing of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of BC (CTCMA).
